Asad Sheikh

Asad Sheikh is a Washington, D.C.–based restaurateur, filmmaker, and storyteller. Over the past decade, he has built and operated more than half a dozen award-winning Indian restaurant concepts throughout the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

His restaurants are known for their commitment to street authenticity, bold regional flavors, and storytelling through food. His work has been featured by major regional and national publications and outlets, including The Washington Post, Washingtonian, Eater DC, Northern Virginia Magazine, and FOX 5.

Beyond the kitchen, Asad is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. His films include Broken Mirrors, which tells the story of blind girls navigating identity and resilience; Yateem, a deeply personal exploration of orphanhood; and Homelessness in America, which examines systemic displacement and survival across the United States. Homelessness in America has been released on Apple TV, Tubi, and Xumo, and all three projects have received recognition at international film festivals.

He is currently developing new documentary work focused on prisoners, autism, and cancer, continuing his commitment to telling human stories with clarity, discipline, and empathy.
