Chad A. Ritchey
Chad A. Ritchey is a proud dad of a 19-year-old daughter, a gymnast at the University of Maryland. Watching her grow up, along with her friends, has been one of the greatest joys of his life and inspired him to write his first children’s book.
When his daughter left for college, Chad suddenly found himself an empty nester. In his playful way, he would often text her, “I’m bored.” That simple message sparked an idea. He began thinking about his own childhood, playing outside, catching fireflies, splashing in creeks, and creating fun without screens. He wanted to remind kids, and the adults in their lives, that imagination and connection do not require much, just a willingness to explore and play.
As he began writing, the story grew into something more meaningful. Chad hopes this book encourages children to use their imagination, build confidence, and understand that they are special just as they are. Having once felt like he did not always fit in, he is passionate about helping children feel seen, valued, and included.
Most of all, Chad hopes this book brings families together to read, laugh, play, and enjoy the simple moments that matter most.
