Ruth Redmond

Ruth Redmond is a native of Washington, DC, where she was raised in the Southeast Capitol Hill area. She is a devoted mother of three daughters, a proud grandmother, and a passionate advocate for faith, health, and personal growth.

Ruth served for 27 years with the DC Fire and EMS Department, building a distinguished career as a firefighter, EMT, fire investigator, hazardous materials technician, and fire inspector. Her journey as a female firefighter and public safety professional has been a driving force behind her mission to educate and inspire others.

She is the author of the memoir Within the Fire, I Found My Voice, where she shares her personal journey through life challenges, including her experience as a breast cancer survivor. She is also a contributing poet in the Amazon bestselling anthology The Sound of the Collective Pen.

Inspired by her career and her commitment to community education, Ruth created Eliza the Junior Firefighter to introduce young readers to fire safety, courage, and the importance of believing in themselves.
Through her work, Ruth encourages others to embrace their journey, find their voice, and become strong advocates for their own lives.
