Sierra Leone Dixon

Sierra Leone Dixon is a Washington, DC native and a graduate of Bennett College, a historically Black college for women in Greensboro, North Carolina. She has continued her studies at George Washington University, Howard University, and Strayer University.

A lifelong lover of language, Sierra has written poetry throughout her adult life. She is the creator of the Dear Daughter poetry series, offering reflections on life drawn from both lived experience and imagination. Though addressed to “daughter,” her message is universal—speaking to readers of all backgrounds through metaphor, imagery, and layered meaning.

Through her work, Sierra explores shared human experiences while honoring individuality. She is a proud mother, grandmother, and devoted family matriarch who finds joy in cycling, reading, and playing the piano.
